{"id":3,"date":"2012-05-02T09:45:55","date_gmt":"2012-05-02T08:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/lucillevalentine\/?p=3"},"modified":"2012-05-11T15:52:34","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T14:52:34","slug":"day-1-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/lucillevalentine\/2012\/05\/02\/day-1-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Supply and Demand in the Knowledge Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>minus\u00a04 weeks<\/p>\n<p>A month before I started work at Newcastle University, at a talk organised by IPPR North http:\/\/www.ippr.org\/ \u2013 the Ideas on the Third Floor series, Professor Chris Brink, Vice Chancellor of Newcastle University,\u00a0spoke about \u201cA world class civic university\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 These are my notes on what he said.\u00a0 His ideas have therefore been filtered through me.<\/p>\n<p>He engaged us in a thought experiment.\u00a0 In the knowledge economy, what is the supply chain?\u00a0 Is the university simply supply i.e. knowledge production?\u00a0 If so then how do we know that the market want what we suppl?.
