The weather was a bit cooler which made everyone happy!<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 385px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a title=\"P1040469 by luftonarchproject, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/96510663@N05\/9343672251\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3698\/9343672251_e5ec7039b2.jpg\" alt=\"P1040469\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#039;s not all hard work on site! \u00a9 The Lufton Project<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Cubby and Dave explored a ditch with no dating evidence as of yet while El investigated some <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Posthole\" target=\"_blank\">post holes<\/a> and an ash-filled pit. Georgia and Johanna started on the Iron Age ditch to the south of trench B &#8211; which runs through to trench C &#8211; and recovered some <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flint\" target=\"_blank\">flint<\/a> and pottery.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, over in trench C, Lucy continued excavating her complicated Iron Age ditch with James our new volunteer. They uncovered \u00a0a piece of Black Burnished Ware jar which James G dated to the 1st century AD (An Exeter <a href=\"http:\/\/potsherd.net\/atlas\/gallery\/ware2\/img\/BB1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Type 12.3<\/a> to be exact). Its perforated base might suggest the production of cheese or beer.
