We took a section across the feature, split into teams of two: Hayley and Chris, and James and James H \u2013 working from either end of the section towards the middle.<\/p>\n<p>It quickly became clear that the feature is more complex than anticipated \u2013 it currently seems that there are approximately three intercutting features. James and James H are currently working on a possible track way, with various pottery finds and small amounts of worked flint. Hayley and Chris have had great success excavating a rather deep ditch with a complex series of fills and multiple pottery and iron finds!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/rMRb8j\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/8695\/16927756072_eb666167e7.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_1158\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It dawned on us today the size of our excavation &#8211; the trench measures 100m x 4m. With reinforcements arriving on Saturday and help from our friends from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssarg.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">SSARG<\/a>, we will take it in our stride!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/flic.kr\/p\/rMSG9t\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/8739\/16928052171_55fef5f38c.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_1161\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally!
