About

I started this blog as a place to explore numerous aspects of parasitology. I have been involved in the subject since my undergraduate days studying zoology at Imperial College in the late 1980’s. Today the discipline is still very much present, but for how much longer? I thought I should better put my thoughts out there before it is too late. Maybe (ancifully?) to inspire others to take an interest, maybe just to create greater awareness of the subject, maybe because I just like typing words and we should write about what we know, right?

In case you are wondering about the title of the blog, it is play on the title ‘Advances in Parasitology’, – a review serial published several times a year. I’ve published one article during my career – a review of climate change and over 30 Neglected Tropical Diseases. The term ‘1992’ refers to the time I started to consider myself as a parasitologist. I had started my PhD studies a couple of years earlier. By 1992 I was wholly embracing the subject, attending the British Society for Parasitology meetings, preparing for fieldwork, producing results from my meta-analysis.
