{"id":282,"date":"2011-09-21T15:06:14","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T15:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fms-teaching.ncl.ac.uk\/psy\/?p=282"},"modified":"2011-09-21T15:06:14","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T15:06:14","slug":"new-mental-health-legislation-resources-uploaded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/mbbspsychiatry\/2011\/09\/21\/new-mental-health-legislation-resources-uploaded\/","title":{"rendered":"New mental health legislation resources uploaded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whilst we had updated our mental health legislation resources not so long ago with the opening of our <a title=\"NUMed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/numed\/\">NUMed campus<\/a> there&#8217;s a clear need to have materials that match the needs of students in Malaysia as well as the UK.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_283\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/mbbspsychiatry\/files\/2011\/09\/numed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-283\" class=\"size-large wp-image-283\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/mbbspsychiatry\/files\/2011\/09\/numed-1024x485.jpg\" alt=\"NUMed Staff | May 2011\" width=\"640\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-283\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NUMed Staff | May 2011<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To this end a number of new resources have been uploaded. First is a new page and handout considering the <a title=\"Transcultural psychiatry\" href=\"https:\/\/fms-teaching.ncl.ac.uk\/psy\/introduction\/transcultural-psychiatry\/\">impact of\u00a0culture<\/a> on mental health and diagnoses. This, whilst reflecting the needs of our Malaysian campus, is equally important int he UK where we have patients from many cultures presenting to services. The other new addition are updates to our handouts on <a title=\"Mental Capacity Act\" href=\"https:\/\/fms-teaching.ncl.ac.uk\/psy\/management\/legislation\/mental-capacity-act\/\">mental capacity<\/a> and <a title=\"Mental Health Act\" href=\"https:\/\/fms-teaching.ncl.ac.uk\/psy\/management\/legislation\/mental-health-act\/\">mental health legislation<\/a>. These cover core principles but with the addition of consideration and contrasting of the situation in\u00a0England\u00a0and Wales and Malaysia (note Scottish and Northern Irish legislation are not considered).<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully all these new resources will be of use.
