{"id":136,"date":"2008-04-14T10:08:19","date_gmt":"2008-04-14T10:08:19","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-04-23T09:41:30","modified_gmt":"2008-04-23T09:41:30","slug":"info_lit_meets_library_2_0_flickr_and_yo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/moirabent\/2008\/04\/14\/info_lit_meets_library_2_0_flickr_and_yo\/","title":{"rendered":"Info Lit meets Library 2.0 : Flickr and YouTube"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Facet kindly sent me a review copy of Peter and Jo&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facetshop.co.uk\/mm5\/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&amp;Store_Code=1&amp;Product_Code=637-4&amp;Category_Code=\">book<\/a>, so I thought I&#8217;d post on the individual chapters as I read them (in no particular order):<\/p>\n<p>Ch 11: Sparking Flickrs of insight into controlled vocabularies and subject searching.<br \/>\nCameron Hoffman and Sarah Polkinghorne.<br \/>\nThis fascinating chapter explains how the authors have been using tagging in Flickr to help students learn about controlled vocabulary. The students are asked to tag a set of photos &#8211; campus landmarks and local scenes and then compare their tags and discuss the differences between subject and keyword searching.<\/p>\n<p>Ch 12: Joining the YouTube conversation to teach information literacy. Susan Ariew.<br \/>\nSusan describes how the University of Florida created a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nik3pyJwaYI\">pilot video <\/a>on YouTube to teach information literacy. They used a student volunteer and hit some copyright issues with linking to it from the library website.
