- KAMI = A spirit, God or Deity. This could also include forces of nature, both good and evil.

- SAICHŌ = Japanese Buddhist monk (767-822AD) who founded the Tendai school of Buddhism
- HARAE = A purification ceremony.
- MONONOKE = Vengeful or evil spirits capable of possessing individuals and causing diseases.
- HEIANKYŌ = Modern day Kyoto. The capital of Japan during the Heian Period.
- SHINKOKU = Meaning divine nation or Sacred land.
