Call for Opinion Pieces and Blog Posts: Business, Law and Governance Perspectives for the NELR Blog

In the backdrop of uncertain geopolitics and an increasing fragmenting global economy, inflation, the blurring of lines between government and private interest drivers of policy, the advancements in technology, and the impact of climate change driven by excess, the North East Law Review (NELR) Blog invites submissions from postgraduate researchers and faculty members examining contemporary challenges in business law and corporate governance. We therefore encourage contributions that analyse how legal frameworks shape corporate behaviour, regulatory compliance, and governance practices in an evolving global business environment.

Scope of Contributions

Pieces should ideally explore the intersection of law, business, and governance contextualised to current complex regulatory landscape.  Your contribution should address current developments, emerging challenges, or innovative approaches within the business law domain.

Topics of interest include:

  • Corporate governance reforms and their implementation challenges
  • Competition, economic regulation, and industrial organisation
  • Cross-border business regulation and compliance complexities
  • Environment and technology
  • Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration in corporate decision-making
  • Evolving frameworks for corporate accountability and transparency
  • Intersections between the state, market, environment, health, and indigenous groups in the Global South
  • Labour: precarious, illegal, unregulated etc
  • Legal challenges in emerging business models and digital commerce
  • Regulatory responses to technological disruption in financial markets
  • Supply chains: in space, in tech, in illegal goods and services

With themes centred around ordering/ reordering/ disordering or alternatively structuring/ restructuring/ de-structuring we seek work that essentially, but not limited to:

  • Analysing recent legislative or judicial developments affecting corporate practice
  • Bridging the academic research with practical business applications
  • Examine intersections between different areas of legal disciplines and specialisms

Follow normal rules around plagiarism – plagiarism is not allowed.

Your paper will be looked over by the editorial team, and corrections may be expected, but you will be kept in the loop and consulted on any changes to your paper. The piece you submit may not be suited for this edition of the NELR blog so it is worth noting that your paper can be rejected.

The NELR Blog team is excited to read your submissions!
