Paul O’Gorman and Herschel Completed

Following our 2 week freeze for registration, I’m pleased to announce that we have now successfully completed the migrations of Paul O’Gorman Building on 3rd October and Herschel Building on 7th October.

We are pleased to announce the migrations are running to schedule and more information on the next buildings will be published shortly.

Paul O’Gorman Building scheduled

The Paul O’Gorman Building  its migration scheduled for Friday 3rd October between
0700-0900. This work will involve around 20 solid minutes of downtime
followed by a period of instability while we perform some admin work.

Following this work the next two sites to be migrated will be:

Building Week Commencing
Herschel Building 06-10-14
Armstrong Building 13-10-14

Leech, Old Library and Architecture Complete

Following our 2 week change freeze for clearing related activities, I’m pleased to announce that we have now successfully completed the migrations of Medical School Leech Building, Old Library Building and Architecture Building.

Following another 2 week break for Registration related activities the following sites are planned:

Leech, Old Library and Architecture planned

Following our 2 week change freeze to allow clearing activities to take place, we’re now in the process of planning our next building migrations.

Medical School Leech Building will be first, with its migration scheduled for August 28th between 0700-0900. This work will involve around 20 solid minutes of downtime followed by a period of instability while we perform some admin work.

The Old Library Building  its migration scheduled for September 4th between 0700-0900. Again this work will involve around 20 solid minutes of downtime followed by a period of instability while we perform some admin work.

Following these two we’re bringing Architecture Building’s migration forward to the week commencing September 8th.

Dental School and Stephenson Complete

This week the network team have completed another two migrations in the Digital Campus Network Upgrade Project.

The Stephenson Building was upgraded on Tuesday morning, and included an upgrade to the local network feeding the Tree Cluster. This upgrade will enable the Cluster Room Support team to build and update more machine at the same time in the busy summer period.

The Dental School was successfully migrated on Wednesday morning, which is now linked back to the new core campus network at 10GE. This means the majority of the medical school has now been migrated, leaving only the Leech building.

There will now be a two week freeze to allow for Clearing related work to continue without any disruption. Following this the next two building migrations will be:

  • Week Commencing 25-08-2014 – Medical School – Leech Building
  • Week Commencing 01-09-2014 – The Old Library

Stephenson moved forward, Dental School planned

Pleased to confirm that Daysh building was successfully completed last week.

We have also been able to move forward the Stephenson migration to Tuesday 5th August. The migration of the migrations of the Dental School network is scheduled to take place the following day, Wednesday August the 5th. This work will take place between 0700-0900 and will involve around 20 solid minutes of downtime followed by a period of instability while we perform some admin work.

This work will be followed by a 2 week gap to allow for the Clearing change freeze.

Cookson and Robinson Complete

I’m pleased to report that both migrations of the Medical School Cookson and Robinson Library buildings have been successfully completed.

Work is now under way to prepare the migration of the Daysh building. This work will take place next Wednesday between 0700-0900. The migration will involve around 20 minuets of downtime, following a period of small blips while we perform some admin work.

 

Following this we will be migration the Dental School in the week commencing 04/08/2014.

 

 

Robinson Library coming up, Cookson Work Postponed 1 Week.

The next migration will be the Robinson Library. This work will take place on Wednesday 9th July between 0700-0900. The migration will involve around 20 minuets of downtime, following a period of small blips while we perform some admin work.

The migration of the Medical School – Cookson building has been postponed 1 week due to a technical issue.

This has now been resolved, work now going ahead Wednesday 16th July 0700-0900.

 

Business School Complete, Cookson Building Coming Up …

 

The Network team have now successfully completed the migration for Newcastle University Business school, which is now connection at 40Gbps to the new Huawei campus network.

The next migration will be the Medical School : Cookson Building. This work will take place on Wednesday 9th July between 0700-0900. The migration will involve around 20 minuets of downtime, following a period of small blips while we perform some admin work.

There will be another update following the completion of this work.

 

Project Update

Just a quick update,

We’ve now completed Devonshire, General Hospital ,Biomedical Research Building and both Kingsgate migrations.

We’re scheduled to migrate Newcastle University Business School on Wednesday 25th June between 07:00 – 09:00.

Following this work, the scheduled migrations for July are as follows:
