Lucy is a PhD student in the School of Computing, where she researches the use of shape for uncertainty representation in multivariate data

Bio

Lucy graduated from Newcastle University in 2016 with a BEng in chemical engineering, followed by an MSc in computer science in 2019. After this, she worked as a Research Software Engineer at Newcastle University on a data visualization project, which lead her to pursue a PhD in data visualization.

Research

Her main research interest is uncertainty visualization, because while this concept is difficult to understand and often ignored, it is essential for informed decision making and risk assessment. Therefore, there is a need for methods of visualizing uncertainty which are both accessible for the general public, and useful to higher level decision makers.
