{"id":18,"date":"2023-12-27T17:02:37","date_gmt":"2023-12-27T17:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/nucarers\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2024-04-02T13:54:49","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T12:54:49","slug":"join-nucarers-network","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/nucarers\/join-nucarers-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Join NUCarers&#8217; Network"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>NU Carers&#8217; Network is for any member of staff or PGR student with caring responsibilities, previous caring experience, or who is involved with caring.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What we do:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Give peer support<\/li><li>Signpost to resources, information, and professional support<\/li><li>Represent the interests and needs of members within the University<\/li><li>Hold regular meetings and events<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to join:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.ncl.ac.uk\/view.php?id=11287462\">complete this form\u200b<\/a>&nbsp;to join.&nbsp;If you perform any of the following for a friend\/relative who could not manage without your help due to illness, disability, old age, mental health or addiction issues, you may be an unpaid carer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Drive them to the GP, hospital or other medical appointments<\/li><li>Shop for or make their meals<\/li><li>Assist with home maintenance<\/li><li>Provide personal care<\/li><li>Provide practical help<\/li><li>Provide help with personal admin including finances<\/li><li>Arrange services<\/li><li>Help them stay engaged in routine exercise or therapy<\/li><li>Assist with medications<\/li><li>Collect prescriptions<\/li><li>Liaise with care professionals<\/li><li>Take children to school due to their parents\/guardians being mentally or physically unable to<\/li><li>Look out for their safety<\/li><li>Take them out of the house for social time\/fresh air<\/li><li>Provide emotional support<\/li><li>Interpret, sign or use other communication systems for them<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NU Carers&#8217; Network is for any member of staff or PGR student with caring responsibilities, previous caring experience, or who is involved with caring.
