A lot has changed since the last posting! Because of an injury over the Christmas period, Camila Tessler can sadly no longer play the part of Mrs. Cripps (Little Buttercup) as she has had to stay in the United States. We’re hopeful that she will be back in time to at least play some part in the show and wish her a speedy recovery. Thankfully, Alice Robinson, a former member of the society, has stepped in to lend us a hand and is doing a great job of learning all the songs, words and moves in such a short amount of time.
The cast has also had their first glimpse of the scenery, masterfully crafted as always by our director, Richard. Without revealing too much, the set this year is a little more of a challenge for the cast and as much practice as possible is needed so that the cast can get used to it!
Things are also moving rapidly on the costume front. Mari Jones, our ever suffering costume queen, has been busily raiding charity shops and fabric stores, with sketches in hand. It still amazes us all how she creates costumes so impressive from so little!
From a publicity point of view, we finally have posters and flyers that will soon be plastered across the city. There is high demand for tickets already, despite the main publicity drive only just starting!
All in all, this promises to be NUGSS’ best performance for many years.
