We aim to do this by creating positive change that benefits Newcastle University and the wider community in becoming ever more equitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> NU-REN has three broad strategic aims:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To promote <strong>equity &amp; reduce systemic disadvantages <\/strong>for minority ethnic groups<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To improve <strong>career &amp; professional development<\/strong> opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To build a sense of <strong>community <\/strong>and belonging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The network realises that to achieve our strategic vision we must embed <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/nuraceequalitynetwork\/2021\/07\/11\/the-importance-of-intersectionality\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/nuraceequalitynetwork\/2021\/07\/11\/the-importance-of-intersectionality\/\">intersectionality<\/a><\/u><\/em> (Crenshaw, 1989) into our strategic vision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-blue-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:29px\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Newcastle University Race Equality Network (NU REN) represents and amplifies the voices of staff and postgraduate research students who self-identify as belonging to a minoritised group on the grounds ethnicity.
