We are delighted to announce an online learning programme for NU-REN Professional services colleagues. This course is open to full members of NU-REN (minoritised by ethnicity).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you want to focus on your career development but you\u2019re not too sure where to start? The GROW career development programme is for you!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An online learning programme for NU-REN Professional services members<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme is designed so that you work through sessions as a small cohort. You will work through career development topics using peer coaching skills that you will develop throughout the programme. Sessions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Career Growth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Building Networks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Confidence and Resilience<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Leadership<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Career Development Planning<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAQ<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m an academic. Can I apply?<\/strong>
This programme is currently designed for Professional Services colleagues only. Academics may have access to other career development resources that Professional Services colleagues do not. However, as this is a pilot programme, we hope to expand it in the future to include other groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I can\u2019t attend one of the sessions?<\/strong>
To gain the most from the programme, participants are expected to progress through the sessions as a cohort. To be eligible to apply, you must confirm your availability for all six sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I not apply as a PGR and why? <\/strong>This particular scheme is relevant for professional services staff only as there are other researcher development programmes available for research staff that is not available to professional services staff. However, as this is a pilot programme, we hope to expand it in the future to include other groups if there is demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if my manager doesn\u2019t support my application?<\/strong>
The programme requires a total commitment of 15 hours across all sessions, plus an additional hour for a celebration event at the end. Managerial support is essential to allow you this time for full participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much pre- and post-work is required?<\/strong>
Pre-work will be minimal, typically requiring no more than 30 minutes. Post-session work involves reflecting on what you\u2019ve learned, which should also take around 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
