{"id":103,"date":"2020-11-09T17:12:45","date_gmt":"2020-11-09T17:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/?p=103"},"modified":"2020-11-09T17:13:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T17:13:50","slug":"wellcome-briefings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/2020\/11\/wellcome-briefings\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellcome Trust policy briefings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/opening-research\/files\/2020\/11\/event-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We will be running a series of online briefings between November and January 2021 to help researchers understand the requirements of the new Wellcome Trust <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.org\/grant-funding\/guidance\/open-access-guidance\/complying-with-our-open-access-policy\">open access policy<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new policy is significantly different in that from January 1, 2021 all research articles supported by Wellcome must be either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Published in a <a href=\"https:\/\/doaj.org\/\">fully open access journal<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcomeopenresearch.org\/\">platform<\/a>, OR<\/li><li>Published in a subscription journal, with the author making the accepted manuscript freely available in <a href=\"https:\/\/europepmc.org\/\">Europe PubMed Central <\/a>from publication, OR <\/li><li>Published in a subscription journal, but made open access through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/academics-and-researchers\/research\/open-access\/apc\/\">transformative agreement held by the university<\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Authors will also be required to apply a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence all their accepted manuscripts and inform the publisher of this when submitting articles to journals.
