Mill and Bataille"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My\u00a0territory\u00a0is\u00a0addiction;\u00a0I\u00a0chose\u00a0addiction\u00a0as\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0contemporary\u00a0issue\u00a0of\u00a0concern\u00a0today!\u00a0I\u00a0have\u00a0examined\u00a0most\u00a0areas\u00a0of\u00a0addiction,\u00a0such\u00a0as;\u00a0Drug\/\u00a0alcohol\u00a0abuse,\u00a0gambling,\u00a0sex\u00a0and\u00a0eating\u00a0disorders.\u00a0Essentially\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0not\u00a0about\u00a0what\u00a0addiction\u00a0one\u00a0has;\u00a0rather\u00a0why\u00a0one\u00a0is\u00a0addicted\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0first\u00a0place.\u00a0Thus,\u00a0I\u00a0have\u00a0explored\u00a0contemporary\u00a0answers.\u00a0The\u00a0two\u00a0concepts\u00a0of\u00a0Philosophy\u00a0I\u00a0have\u00a0 chosen\u00a0are\u00a0that\u00a0of\u00a0Mill\u00a0and\u00a0Bataille.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bataille\u00a0is\u00a0related\u00a0to\u00a0my\u00a0topic\u00a0of\u00a0addiction\u00a0because\u00a0he\u00a0blames\u00a0Society!!!\u00a0Due\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Rise\u00a0of\u00a0Capitalism\u00a0All\u00a0time\u00a0is\u00a0spent\u00a0on\u00a0useful\u00a0means\u00a0leaving\u00a0no\u00a0 time\u00a0for\u00a0useless\u00a0expenditure&#8230;addiction\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0way\u00a0of\u00a0escaping\u00a0 this\u00a0monotonous\u00a0regimented\u00a0lifestyle!!!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The methodology: The method I have used throughout my project is the hermeneutic interpretive, as I attained all my information from books and the internet.<\/p>\n<p>Mill is associated with my territory because his philosophy is based on Hedonism: Addiction is based on pleasure and addicts do it to release pain. This is also following Mill\u2019s principle of Utilitarianism. Also, I have explored Mill\u2019s work on education; his basic doctrine related to addiction would be that a good education from a young age would prevent behaviours like addiction occurring. He distinguishes higher and lower pleasures, higher pleasures being things such as; theatre and literature.
