Using a variety of music festivals from past and present to construct a coherent argument. <\/p>\n<p>Discussion: It is felt that music festivals provide a much needed release from the strains and pressures of society; one is permitted a degree of excess within a shared environment. The use of drugs and alcohol during a festival is representative of the need to cast off one&#8217;s inhibitions and to partake in unrestrained celebration. However, the music festival is still influenced by social rules and regulations.
