University of Strathclyde, room TBA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Dis)organizers: Rebekka Puderbaugh, Claire Timmins, Rory Turnbull<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Phonetics\/Phonology Unconference on Pedagogy (Phon-UP) is a radical space for investigating innovative and effective methods and approaches to teaching phonetics and phonology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our primary disciplinary focus is phonetics and phonology but we welcome participants from all areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is an <em>un<\/em>conference?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A conference typically has a hierarchy, a strict structure, and a set agenda. An unconference is instead led by the participants. While the organisers have some particular topics and questions to serve as a springboard for discussion, the direction and the agenda (such that it exists) for the day will be determined by the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Programme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As an unconference, there is no formal programme. However, the organisers have a suggested framework for the day, which can be adopted, modified, or rejected by the participants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before lunch:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Practical methods, tips and tricks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deepening knowledge on specific topics \/ staying up to date with developments in the field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bigger picture questions about the nature of learning etc<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After lunch:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General discussion, based on our shared experiences of the first session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions and topics for exploration too.
