The day is aimed primarily at patients and members of the public, in order to raise awareness of arthritis and musculoskeletal research at Newcastle University amongst the patient groups in the North East and to facilitate the engagement and involvement of patients in the future research activities and projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Prof Briggs and Dr Pirog together with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/icm\/people\/profile\/drew.rowan\">Prof Drew Rowan<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/biomedicine\/research\/groups\/profile\/david.young\">Dr David Young<\/a> at the Institute of Cellular Medicine are involved in a pan-European systems biology project (SYBIL, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sybil-fp7.eu\">http:\/\/www.sybil-fp7.eu<\/a>), which is bringing 18 research partners from across Europe in order to elucidate the signalling pathways and mechanisms involved in common and rare skeletal disorders.<\/p>\n<p>The program of the workshop is attached below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/files\/2014\/06\/index.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-699\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/files\/2014\/06\/index.png\" alt=\"index\" width=\"1002\" height=\"722\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"really_simple_share really_simple_share_button robots-nocontent snap_nopreview\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IGM scientists from Prof Mike Briggs\u2019s and Dr Kasia Pirog\u2019s groups are taking part in the Arthritis Awareness Day at the Baddiley-Clark building at Newcastle University on Thursday\u00a026th June 2014.
