A Standard for Judgement

The aim of this project is to arrive at a method for determining what level of influence culture should have on policy decisions and deliberations. There are several issues to look at here, such as the value of culture and what obligations people can be expected to bear for the sake of their culture. On this occasion we will look at this in the context of the proposed conscience clause bill, which spawned from the ‘Gay cake row’ and would on religious grounds allow businesses to refuse to provide some services if they clash with their religious convictions.
