{"id":46,"date":"2020-03-24T16:34:48","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T16:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/remoteworking\/?p=46"},"modified":"2020-03-24T16:49:27","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T16:49:27","slug":"directaccess-to-university-it-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/remoteworking\/directaccess-to-university-it-services\/","title":{"rendered":"DirectAccess to University IT Services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>When\u00a0you\u2019re using a University supplied, Windows 10 laptop to work remotely, DirectAccess\u00a0allows you\u00a0to log in to campus IT services and\u202faccess your files.\u00a0It starts-up automatically on your University managed laptop and runs in the background while you\u2019re working.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With DirectAccess you can:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Access University IT Services and software\u00a0<\/li><li>Access SAP services (scroll down to the bottom of the SAP login pad and select the service you require labelled \u2018DirectAccess\u2019)\u00a0<\/li><li>Access your University files (H:Drive) and shared drives\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best Practice&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You don\u2019t need to download lots of files to your laptop, DirectAccess allows you to access and edit them in their original location&nbsp;<\/li><li>If you do need to download large files or data, please do it out of normal office hours so the service isn&#8217;t slowed for others.<\/li><li>Please&nbsp;only use&nbsp;one&nbsp;DirectAccess enabled device&nbsp;per person. Using&nbsp;multiple devices has an impact on the quality of the&nbsp;service.&nbsp;<\/li><li>For the best experience&nbsp;we recommend you&nbsp;use a wired network connection.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other factors&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Please&nbsp;consider&nbsp;the number of&nbsp;people&nbsp;accessing the internet&nbsp;in&nbsp;your&nbsp;household and the potential impact&nbsp;streaming\/gaming\/other online services may have on your&nbsp;internet connection.
