Books in the Robinson Library are now in one single sequence, with 000-599 on Level 3 and 600-999 on Level 4.

Where are my books?

Level 3

  • 000-099: Computing Science, Library & Information Science, Museum Studies
  • 100-199: Philosophy, Psychology
  • 200-299: Religion
  • 300-399: Social Sciences, Law, Education, Environmental Science, Politics
  • 400-499: Languages, Linguistics
  • 500-599: Science, Maths

Study Skills, Academic Practice and Standards will also move to Level 3.

Level 4

  • 600-699: Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, Management & Accounting
  • 700-799: Arts, Architecture, Music
  • 800-899: Literature
  • 900-999: Geography, History

The Shefton Research Collection and all Folio books are on Level 4.

Reference books are temporarily shelved on Level 1.

We hope this simplified arrangement will make it easier for you to find your books. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please ask.

During the Robinson Library refurbishment, additional quiet study space is available elsewhere on campus for all students to use.

This week’s quiet rooms are..

Teaching room 1.48, 1st Floor Bedson Teaching Centre (University map ref: 21)

Seminar Room 1.43A 1st Floor King George VI Building (University map ref:19)

These rooms will be available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Don’t forget that students are able to study in the Walton and Law libraries too.

Cafe refurbishments in the Robinson Library are almost complete! New lighting has been installed, flooring has been laid and furniture has been delivered. Although the cafe isn’t open yet, the vending machines are still accessible.

We’re pleased to report that our book move is nearing completion. Current locations below:

  • 000-530 Move completed – on Level 3
  • 531-569 Move in progress from Level 4 to Level 3
  • 570-599 On temporary shelves at the back of Level 3 (*please ask if you can’t find these books)
  • 600-658.1 Move complete – on Level 4
  • 658.2-661 Still to move on Level 4
  • 662-888 Move complete – on Level 4
  • 888.1-899 On temporary shelves at the back of Level 3 (*please ask if you can’t find these books)
  • 900-999 Move in progress from Level 3 to Level 4

All oversize books (Quarto and Folio) are in their new locations:

  • Q001-Q599 on the central shelves on Level 3
  • Q600-999 on the central shelves on Level 4

If you can’t find the books you want, please ask!

Completed book moves 

We’re pleased to report that the following book moves are now complete

000 – 399 books are in their final location on Level 3

700 – 824 books are in their final location on Level 4

Book moves in progress

On Level 3 we’re currently moving 400-499 books

And on Level 4 we’re moving 600-699 and Oversize 600-999 books

What’s next?

500-599, 825-999 will be moved in the next couple of weeks.
