In addition to the 3 main University Libraries on campus, the library also manages the University’s off-campus “Research Reserve”. This newly refurbished facility provides thousands of metres of additional shelving space and allows us to store (and continue to make available) a wide range of books, journals, reports and other material. We also provide storage for other parts of the University and other museums in Newcastle too.

We are pleased to offer tours to University staff to our off campus Research Reserve to learn more about our collections, the scanning service we provide for Desktop Delivery and to view the storage and study space available.

Tours are available at 2pm on :

  • 18th June
  • 2nd July
  • 20th August

We can arrange transportation to the Team Valley for a small number of attendees, please book a place via louise.gordon@ncl.ac.uk

You can also arrange to meet us at the Research Reserve.

There is a large car park available at the facility and a regular bus service from Newcastle, the Team Valley Express no. 91, with a stop directly outside.

The full postal address is Unit 1, Dukesway Court, Dukesway, Team Valley NE11 0QX

Dukesway can be accessed via the A1 from either Lobley Hill roundabout, via Kingsway,  or Low Fell roundabout, via Retail World.

Current print journals (and their back issues) can now be found on Level 1 in the Robinson Library. As part of the summer refurbishment in the Robinson Library, we will also create a new browsing and reading area alongside our current journals.

To date, we have moved all journals from PER 010 up to PER 700. The remaining journals are moving this week and will be in their new home by Friday 4th May.

If you can’t find the journal you’re looking for, please ask a member of library staff.

This summer’s journal move is now complete. Back runs of journals available electronically and all issues over 10 years old are now located off-campus, in our Research Reserve. If you need to use any material in the Research Reserve, please use our online form.

The space released will be used to create bright, new study spaces which will be ready for the start of term. Some of our book collections will also be moving location (within the Robinson Library), so if you use our Reference books, Academic Practice or Study Skills books, these will be moving in the coming days…
