We’re delighted to report that YourSpace is open again and offers over 100 study spaces for students who want to work together in groups.

YourSpace, the Robinson Library’s largest group study area, suffered significant flood damage in the summer and autumn and was unavailable as a study space while the area was repaired.

New furniture has been delivered and is currently being installed in the Research Space on Level 4 in the Robinson Library. Each desk comes with individual task lighting and glazed screens have been used to separate this space from the rest of the floor, giving another choice when seeking somewhere quiet to study (more photographs to follow once installation is completed tomorrow, but here’s a sneak preview…)

Or why not lose yourself in a book in one of our relaxing bucket chairs?

The large touch screens Information kiosks are now up and running on Levels 2, 3 and 4 in the Robinson Library.

They currently include:

  • The same Library Search look-up functionality as the smaller touch screens – allowing you to quickly find a book’s shelfmark
  • Maps with ‘you are here’
  • Colour coded layers which you can use to show specific features (e.g. just show me study rooms)

Extra functionality will be added over time such as Library news and events, a route to your book from your current location, and study room booking.

Next time you’re in the library, please have a play and tell us what you think!

If you make an appointment to meet your Library Liaison team, your meeting might take place in one of our new consultation spaces on Level 3 or 4. These spaces are directly outside the Liaison staff offices, separated from the main study areas with glass partitions and are furnished with comfy sofas and chairs.

The area on Level 4 is almost complete, with furniture for Level 3 due to be delivered very soon. The Liaison team hope to move back into their offices later this week.
