We’ve created a new ‘Information Hub’ on Level 4 in the Robinson Library and have just taken delivery of new furniture.

The Information Hub will form part of the library’s overall enquiry service and will be supported by additional ‘roving’ staff who will be able to help users at their point-of-need.

Green and Purple

Contrasting colour schemes have been chosen to help give Level 3 and Level 4 their own characters and identities.

Level 4 has a purple theme.

Whereas Level 3 has a predominantly green theme.

 

We’ve also taken delivery of lots of smart new chairs.

Smart new toilets

Our Level 3 and Level 4 toilets have had a much needed upgrade. Not quite ready to open yet, however, so please continue to use facilities elsewhere in the library.

Liaison staff offices

The Liaison staff areas on Levels 3 and 4 in the Robinson Library are being improved to provide space where staff and students can have informal meetings with their Liaison team.

This is the Level 3 area… comfy furniture to follow…

New furniture

New furniture (desks, chairs and dividing screens) for our quiet study areas are being delivered and constructed on Levels 3 and 4 today.

Level 3 progress

As you can see from the picture, the new carpet is now in place on Level 3 and we are taking delivery of some of the new furniture today. Toilets on Levels 3 & 4 are closed whilst the final fittings go into place but should be open again soon.

Temporary restrictions on Level 3

The entrance area to Level 3 (near the Information Desks) will be closed from Friday 17th August, possibly until after the bank holiday (~28th August). This is to allow carpet laying and the installation of new power and data points. The PCs and the furniture will be moved out of the area on Friday and the area closed off although access will still be possible to the rest of the floor and to Maths Aid and the SAPL Room via the main staircase (D)

Next to the window (where the family history microfilms were) –

Area in front of the Information Desk – 12pcs
Next to the window (as on L3)

Due to the L1 flood damage, access to pcs elsewhere is much reduced,

Airconditioning units arriving

We’ve had an enormous crane outside the Library for the last few days, unloading the air-conditioning units and transferring them to the roof.

Ernie, one of the Library porters took these pictures.

New toilets!

This may not excite you as much as it excites us!

The new toilets are now being installed on Levels 3 and 4 – there will be more of them, as well as better access for folks with disabilities.
