Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter

Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter was established in 1896 and helps thousands of lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals every year. Their objective is the promotion of kindness and prevention of cruelty to animals.

They reunite lost animals with their owners and find loving new homes for those no longer wanted. They cover the whole of the North East from their two shelters within Newcastle, Claremont Road and Benton North Farm.

The things they have particularly asked for are:

  • Bedding for dogs and cats
  • Kitten tinned food and pouches

My target for them is to obtain the following:

  • Cash
  • Cat and dog food and toys
  • Bedding

They have their own website at: http://www.dogandcatshelter.com/html/about_us.html

Destiny Streetworx

Destiny Streetworx is a local charity helping the homeless and those in need on the streets of Newcastle and Gateshead. They take food to their “Street Friends” meeting the needs of the whole person practically (with food and clothing), socially (by talking and interacting personally) and spiritually (as and when a person asks).

The things they have particularly asked for are:

  •  Food such as pot noodles, crisps, wrapped biscuits, hot disposable drinks, sweets
  • Clothes such as socks, gloves, hats, scarfs, underwear, coats, shoes
  • Toiletries
  • Sleeping bags, tents, backpacks

It would also be useful if you have any spare shopping bags, to assist me getting donations to them and also to help them distribute the food.

My target for them is to obtain the following:

  • 10 backpacks with sweets, biscuits, hat, gloves, scarf, toothbrush, toothpaste, drinks, Greggs voucher in time for Christmas 2018
  • Other donations such as pot noodles, hot drinks, old clothes, sleeping bags, shoes, toiletries etc

They have a facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/destinystreetworx/ and their own website at: https://www.destinystreetworx.co.uk/

Connect25 Foodbank

Connect25 Foodbank is based in Byker but supports people all over Newcastle. I have donated to this foodbank twice before and they are a nice bunch of volunteers doing a great job. One difference about this foodbank is that they deliver donations to the needy, believing that way is more dignified than people coming and queuing at a regular foodbank.

The things they have particularly asked for are:

  •  Sugar
  • Cereal
  • Long life milk
  • Cooking sauces
  • Spread (i.e. jam, chocolate spread etc.)
  • Tinned meat, soup, vegetables

Other things that they require are items with long dates, pasta, baked beans, dilute juice, tea, coffee.

Please could you check your cupboards for spare/unwanted stuff? Add a couple of items to your weekly shop? Donate a little cash which I will spend on their behalf on whatever they need the most?

It would also be useful if you have any spare shopping bags, to assist me getting donations to them and also to help them distribute the food.

They can also distribute good quality clothing, toys, books etc. to those who are most in need.

My target for them is to obtain the following:

  • £150 x 3 – £1000 food parcel each for easter, summer and Christmas
  • 10 christmas hampers (in photocopier boxes) for families (biscuits, board game, playing cards, sweets etc)
  • Food donations for Easter, Summer and Christmas

They have a facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Connect25Foodbank/
