The Brazilian SCARFE team attended on 21st of June 2018 the 1st EU-Brazil Fair and Ethical Trade Consultation Forum. The event took place in Rio de Janeiro and gathered the main Brazilian representatives of Fair Trade stemming from government \u2013 Development Secretary of the city of Rio and National Secretary of Solidarity Economy \u2013, civil society \u2013 Fair Trade NGO in Brazil and FACES do Brasil \u2013 to market \u2013 Bio Fair Trade, Sebrae consultants, Justa Trama, etc. The key political actors briefly presented their \u2018Fair trade\u2019 perspectives and some relevant foreign experiences and intelligence agencies have given their speech during the event. Among them, the case of Equator and the Portuguese Start up Planetiers, as well as the data presented by the International Trade Center offered insightful information. In addition to that, few \u2018best fair trade Brazilian practices\u2019 have presented their case (E.g.: Justa Trama, Bio Fair Trade and Rio Fair Trade city) The second half of the forum were organized in workshops discussing themes such as Fair Trade fashion; Legal requirements for certification; Working with international organizations; and How to get involved with fair trade community in Brazil? They have announced the development of both a Mapping of the Fair Trade consumers network in Brazil as well as the second edition of the same Forum, which will probably happen in December 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
