Digital exhibitions introduce students to the principles of textual editing for digital platforms, as well as writing for an online audience. Digital exhibitions are also a great way of promoting your research, gaining a wider online audience and drawing attention to lesser known archival material and special collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"519\" height=\"213\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/files\/2021\/02\/claire-boreham-bookshop.png\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"253\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/files\/2021\/02\/claire-boreham-bookshop.png\" data-link=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/?attachment_id=253\" class=\"wp-image-253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/files\/2021\/02\/claire-boreham-bookshop.png 519w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/files\/2021\/02\/claire-boreham-bookshop-300x123.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 519px) 100vw, 519px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014\/15, English Language and Literature student <strong>Claire Boreham<\/strong>, created the <a href=\"https:\/\/corbettsbookshop.omeka.net\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/corbettsbookshop.omeka.net\/\">William Corbett&#8217;s Bookshop website<\/a> as part of the UTLSEC Innovation Fund project\u00a0<em>Making the Archives Public: Digital Skills, Research and Public Engagement<\/em>. The project was devised and convened by\u00a0Dr Ruth Connolly and Dr Stacy Gillis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>William Corbett was a bookseller in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the seventeenth century. When he died in 1626, an <a href=\"https:\/\/corbettsbookshop.omeka.net\/items\/browse?collection=7&amp;sort_field=added&amp;sort_dir=a\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/corbettsbookshop.omeka.net\/items\/browse?collection=7&amp;sort_field=added&amp;sort_dir=a\">inventory<\/a> of his shop was made, listing over a thousand books, mentioning around two hundred of them by name.
