{"id":406,"date":"2021-07-05T10:38:51","date_gmt":"2021-07-05T09:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/?p=406"},"modified":"2021-07-16T07:35:38","modified_gmt":"2021-07-16T06:35:38","slug":"selll-ug-monthly-news-15-july-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/selll\/2021\/07\/05\/selll-ug-monthly-news-15-july-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"SELLL UG Monthly News 15 &#8211; July 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Welcome to the <strong>Fifteenth<\/strong> Edition of our SELLL UG News for July, compiled by Caroline Ede, with contributions from Professional Services (PS) colleagues in the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics.\u00a0 This is a special edition including dates for your diary and some useful reminders.\u00a0 Also look out for our revamped monthly newsletter which will be coming soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DATES FOR YOUR DIARY<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Wilde\u2019s Importance of Being Earnest \u2013 streaming from 2 July to the 16<sup>th<\/sup> July 2021<\/span><\/strong><br>NUTS (NU Theatre Society) have collaborated with the national charity Acting for Others and the Sunderland Empire to develop a unique production of Wilde\u2019s <em>Importance of Being Earnest <\/em>(the acts of the play are interspersed with original content relating to the life of Wilde)that will be available through streaming from <strong>2\u00a0July to the 16th July. Tickets are on sale now and all details are on the attached press release<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Louisa Rimmer, a SELLL second-year student and President of NUTS says, \u201cIt is the biggest project that the society has ever executed, being directed, produced, filmed, edited, acted, and marketed all by Newcastle University students, in an effort to raise as much money as\u00a0possible, so I would be so grateful, along with the rest of the society, if you fancied buying a ticket or sharing the event with anybody who you think might enjoy it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Graduate Photography Events \u2013 16<sup>th<\/sup> July 2021<\/span><\/strong><br>If you have signed up for one of these events, just a reminder that the timeslot allocated for all SELLL programmes is <strong>Friday 16<sup>th<\/sup> July 2021 from 9am-1pm<\/strong> and further information is provided <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/congregations\/photography\/2021\/\">on this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">GIVE IT A GO Summer 2021<\/span><\/strong><br>This year has been like no other, but the Give It A Go team has continued to come up trumps with a fun and action-packed programme and we\u2019ve seen some great activities along the way! We\u2019ve tried our hand at Zoomba Zumba, live virtual experiences with Kielder Observatory, online exercise classes and enjoyed the return to in-person activities like surfing! From exercise classes you can do in your own time, to craft tutorials, language lessons, and summer baking ideas &#8211; we&#8217;d love to see you involved!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exciting Tours<\/strong> &#8211; Our fantastic tour partners Lundgren Tours are delivering a fun summer programme to visit our favourite places in Northumberland and beyond! You\u2019ll need to bring your University smartcard for each visit and swipe in at the reception entry gates on arrival to avoid any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/sport\/membership\/other-fees--charges\/\">no-show charges<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;
