A practical application for planetary well being
In this project, marine engineering and naval architecture students will be familiar with marine propulsion systems in full-scale. Newcastle University Research Vessel, the Princess Royal, will be equipped with a third propulsion system. The system will include a unique propulsion and an electric engine. The engine can be powered with a battery pack and a generator uses biofuel. Thus, the installed systems will be used to demonstrate carbon neutral and e-fuel.
Student will use open source micro controller to operate the propulsion unite. This practical application will support fundamental research as well as education.
