For an overview read the <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1QrXyVVUjUSCoRS9qjPw7\">NU Connections article<\/a>.<br><br>A summary of the enhancements and new provisions are as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>De-coupled our maternity\/adoption policy into two separate policies <\/strong>and, following a consultation with adoptive parents, <strong>rewritten the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1Qs3sXCZBYoufJ2XHt6y8\">Adoption Policy<\/a><\/strong> to make it more flexible and fit for purpose.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Introduced a 2-week bereavement leave provision<\/strong> within our \u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1Qs9mZk4U1Um6AdLYCnA9\">Maternity\/Pregnancy policy<\/a> and \u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1Qslb2Ifu8W5OizowUVEb\">Paternity\/Partner policy<\/a> for colleagues who sadly suffer a miscarriage within the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.<\/li><li><strong>Introduced a <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1Qsr54pkMcrXF9KcO4cGc\">Family Time policy<\/a><\/strong> with provision for foster carers (up to eight days&#8217; paid leave in a 12-month period), colleagues and partners undergoing fertility treatment\/assisted conception (paid time off for up to 10 appointments in a 12-month period) and time off for grandparents (one week unpaid leave every time there is a new addition to the family).<\/li><li>We have also taken the opportunity to <strong>update our <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1QswZ66q4fXPw0V15dtId\">Maternity Toolkit<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/snes-news.ncl.ac.uk\/c\/1QsCT7NvmjtHmS5PmmKKe\">Adoption Toolkit<\/a><\/strong> with checklists, FAQs and timelines so as to better support both colleagues going through these processes and their line managers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;d like to highlight some updates to the University Family Friendly Policies which are important to note.
