This book is held off-site at the Research Reserve facility in the Team Valley.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Research Reserve is the Library\u2019s stores, located throughout campus and including a state-of-the-art storage facility in the Team Valley. These facilities allow the Library to keep less-used material for much longer than other academic libraries. These combined storage facilities provide over 29 kilometres of storage space, which is used to house old editions of journals and books which are consulted infrequently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/subject-support\/files\/2020\/02\/RR2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/subject-support\/files\/2020\/02\/RR2.png 858w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/subject-support\/files\/2020\/02\/RR2-300x93.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/subject-support\/files\/2020\/02\/RR2-768x239.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption>If you&#8217;d like to request items from the Research Reserve facilities, click the &#8220;Request Scan\/Borrow&#8221; button once you&#8217;ve located the item on Library Search.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can loan a variety of materials from the Research Reserve,\nincluding: books, theses and journal volumes. These can be requested from Library\nSearch. Simply <a href=\"https:\/\/newcastle-shib.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/pds?func=load-login&amp;calling_system=primo&amp;institute=NCL&amp;lang=eng&amp;url=https:\/\/libsearch.ncl.ac.uk:443\/primo_library\/libweb\/pdsLogin?targetURL=https%3A%2F%2Flibsearch.ncl.ac.uk%2Fprimo-explore%2Fsearch%3Fvid%3DNEWUI%26lang%3Den_US%26from-new-ui%3D1%26authenticationProfile%3DProfile%2B1\">log\nin<\/a> using your campus ID, find the item you are looking for and then click\nthe blue <strong>\u201cRequest Scan\/Borrow\u201d<\/strong>\nbutton. You\u2019ll get a choice of pickup locations (either the Walton or Philip\nRobinson libraries). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are request forms to complete if you\u2019d like to borrow\na <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/services\/requests\/store_requests_theses\">thesis<\/a>\nor an entire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/services\/requests\/journal-request-form\">volume\nof a journal<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requests can be viewed by going to <strong>\u201cMy Account\u201d <\/strong>in Library Search and clicking on <strong>\u201cMy Requests\u201d<\/strong> from the drop down menu. If you\u2019d like to cancel your request, simply click the blue cancel hyperlink (as seen below). Anything requested\non a Friday or over the weekend will be delivered on the following Monday\nafternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your item has arrived at your chosen library, you\u2019ll receive an email letting you know it\u2019s available to loan. The item will be kept on the reservations shelves for five days before being returned to the Team Valley, or passed on to the next person in the reservation queue. Items from the Research Reserve are issued in the same way as standard long loan items, either using the self-issue machines or at the service desk. Articles\ncan be requested via Library Search (same as a book) or by filling out the <a href=\"https:\/\/dds.ncl.ac.uk\/new_request\">relevant request form<\/a>. Please try and include\nas much detail as possible on your request form. This helps Library staff\nlocate your article and fulfil your request quicker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are only able to request one scanned article per journal\nissue. The scanned article will be delivered to your University email address,\nwhere it can be downloaded and printed off. Requests are generally fulfilled\nwithin 24 hours, although this may take longer over the weekends or on bank\nholidays. Daily access is available by appointment only with the Research Reserve team, weekdays between 10AM and 4PM. Access outside of these hours can be organised given sufficient notice.
