Congratulations to those students who submitted entries for our Rio+20 competition.
The judges are now all working their way through these before we convene the judging panel on 14 Feb, but at first glance there are some fantastic reports among them, and a lot of hard work and research has obviously gone into them!
We hope to be able to announce the winner, via our website (www.ncl.ac.uk/sustainability), this blog site, our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/SustainabilityNCL) and Twitter on the 15th Feb so watch this space!
Once announced, we’ll be discussing with the winner the possibility of them keeping a blog of their preparations for travelling to Rio, as well as the blogging they will be doing once there. All of these blog entries will be included on this site, so you will be able to follow their progress directly.
We are also in discussions about organising a follow-up event next Autumn to look back at the Earth Summit, assess the agreements reached at it and debate their chances of success. Details of this event will be posted on our website as soon as they’re available, and the event will be open to all, including school groups. If you are interested in attending, or in bringing a group of your students, you can sign up to receive updates here.
