He chairs the Newcastle Head and Neck MDT and ENT Clinical Academic Directorate. His particular clinical interests lie with transoral surgery for oropharyngeal and laryngeal cancer, with an interest in swallowing outcomes following these.\u00a0 He has experience with transoral laser microsurgery which has translated into transoral robotic surgery recently. He also has particular interests in open partial laryngeal surgery and benign cricopharyngeal surgery, for dysphagia.\u00a0 Mr O\u2019Hara is a co-applicant on two clinical trials currently recruiting: TOPPITS is assessing the impact of proton pump inhibitors on chronic throat symptoms.
