TIF-CER: ERC Advanced Investigator Research Award 2027 – 2031
From Forests -> to Fields -> to Rural Landscapes: TIF – CER uses a mechanistic framework to quantify how the ecological structure of agroforestry systems (trees in farms – TIFs) shape their climate and biodiversity functions. This includes attributes like choice of agroforestry tree species, whether they are planted with crops and/or managed with livestock, and the age of the system. It also includes tree density, the arrangement of these traits in the farm and their placement in the wider landscape. By working across nine agroclimatic zones, TIF-CER can test how mechanisms underlying the functions held by agroforestry systems scale with these attributes and large-scale climates and climate extremes.
