a PhD in 2012 with<a href=\"https:\/\/eps.leeds.ac.uk\/chemistry\/staff\/4198\/professor-michael-webb\"> Mike Webb<\/a> investigating the protein post-translational modification phosphophistidine.<br>He then spent time as a PDRA, still in Leeds, with <a href=\"https:\/\/eps.leeds.ac.uk\/chemistry\/staff\/4194\/professor-bruce-turnbull\">Bruce Turnbull<\/a> engineering protein nanostructures through\u00a0carbohydrate-protein interactions and a stint as a Teaching Fellow at the University of York, before moving to the University of Oxford in 2014 for a PDRA with <a href=\"https:\/\/kawamuraresearchgroup.com\/akane-kawamura\">Akane Kawamura<\/a> developing an mRNA-display cyclic peptide discovery platform.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He relocated to Newcastle University in 2019 and began his independent career in 2022 following the award of a Royal Society University Research Fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research in the group focusses on better understanding of the control of protein glycosylation; fundamental to many biological processes and often misregulated in disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Memberships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Member of the
