About the Vital North Partnership<\/h3>\n

The Vital North Partnership is a strategic partnership between\u00a0Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children’s Books<\/a>\u00a0and Newcastle University<\/a>, funded by\u00a0Arts Council England<\/a>\u00a0and Newcastle University. Newcastle City\u00a0Council<\/a> staff\u00a0are also members of the Vital North Partnership\u2019s Steering Group. The partners share the goal that Newcastle becomes a centre for excellence in children\u2019s literature.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been working together since before Seven Stories opened in 2005, the same year in which Newcastle University founded the Children’s Literature Unit<\/a>. Today our collaboration stretches across the three university faculties and ranges from research to teaching, and from collections to public events.<\/p>\n

Rachel is leaving this role in August 2019 for a new position, managing Newcastle University’s Centre for Doctoral Training in Digital Civics<\/a> and the Digital Economy Research Centre<\/a> in Open Lab,<\/a> part of the School of Computing.<\/a><\/p>\n
