Image: Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children&#8217;s Books, Photography by Richard Kenworthy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seven Stories\u2019 mission is to celebrate and share children\u2019s books, and there are some amazing children\u2019s books all about science. From books like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1847808867\/creativepubco-20\">Carnovsky and Rachel Williams\u2019 Illuminature,<\/a> where you can discover different animals using a three colour RGB lens, to books like Andrea Beaty and David Roberts\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andreabeaty.com\/rosie-revere-engineer.html\">Rosie Revere, Engineer<\/a>, which comes with engineering activity kits, there are lots of titles which encourage children to think about science and provide STEM role models.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_255\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-255\" style=\"width: 840px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-255\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/vitalnorth\/files\/2017\/03\/K4A0465-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"The Street Scientists at Seven Stories. Image: Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children&#8217;s Books, Photography by Richard Kenworthy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When I heard that Seven Stories were thinking about taking part in British Science Week, I recommended that they connected up with Newcastle University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/sage\/\">Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering<\/a>. Image: Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children&#8217;s Books, Photography by Richard Kenworthy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So on Saturday 11<sup>th<\/sup> and Sunday 12<sup>th<\/sup> March 2017, the Street Science team took over the Studio at Seven Stories to celebrate British Science Week 2017. The Street Scientists are a group of current students studying STEM subjects at Newcastle University.
