{"id":849,"date":"2015-07-31T12:05:09","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T11:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/web\/?p=849"},"modified":"2015-12-17T14:52:37","modified_gmt":"2015-12-17T14:52:37","slug":"find-content-inconsistencies-quickly-and-easily-using-siteimprove-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/web\/2015\/07\/31\/find-content-inconsistencies-quickly-and-easily-using-siteimprove-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Find Content Inconsistencies Quickly and Easily using Siteimprove Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Use of consistent\u00a0language and terminology<\/strong>\u00a0helps to raise the<strong>\u00a0reputation of your website.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have\u00a0<strong>content standards and style guides<\/strong>\u00a0in place for the University.<\/p>\n<p>But, with over 100 websites and many editors, communicating and maintaining standards is a challenge.<\/p>\n<p>We use\u00a0<strong>Siteimprove<\/strong>, a\u00a0quality assurance software,\u00a0to help us\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/web\/2015\/04\/23\/fix-broken-links-and-misspellings-with-siteimprove\/\">find and fix broken links and misspellings<\/a>\u00a0on our websites.<\/p>\n<h2>Use Siteimprove Policy to remove unwanted content<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Siteimprove also has<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>Policy function<\/strong>\u00a0that we&#8217;re using\u00a0to inform\u00a0our\u00a0editors about<\/span>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>terms\u00a0we don\u2019t want <\/strong>on the website\u00a0&#8211; such as &#8216;click here&#8217;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>content\u00a0changes<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0eg\u00a0name of an Academic Unit or Service, or\u00a0highlighting\u00a0content that has changed its address<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>reinforcing\u00a0a standard term<\/strong> &#8211; eg Newcastle University not University of Newcastle upon Tyne<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Siteimprove does the hard work of finding and listing the content that needs fixing.
