The new status for readers who are allowed longer loan periods has now been set up in Aleph so their loans can be issued on self-issue and the extended loan will be automatically applied (so they won’t have to come to the desk to borrow and can use self issue when the desk is closed). Sheila is changing the status for all new users, as their details are sent each week from Student Wellbeing, and will change it for all the existing students shortly.
In the meantime, if anyone comes to the desk for an extended loan, if Sheila is there she’ll change their status, or if you don’t usually do registration changes, ask one of the other supervisors.
The status needs to be changed in the Local patron tab to either status 15 Undergraduate RWD or 16 Postgraduate RWD and also the Profile in the Global tab has to be changed to either 15 UG DISABL or 16 PG DISABL. If you do make a change please let Sheila know the name/number of the student.
The extended loans are available to students with a disability, who have been referred to us by Student Wellbeing (so it doesn’t apply automatically to everyone with a disability). They can borrow items for longer than the standard 4hr STC loan or Next Day Loan period, not including 4 week loans. They can borrow STC for 24 hrs from the time of loan and NDL until closing time 2 days later. Until now they have had to come to the desk to have their loans extended.
