Bindery – out of hours collection

There are two suggestions we are going to run with:

Firstly – that any outstanding “soft” binding order will be added to the “hard binding” diary that is always on the Reception desk – it would not normally be in there, but it will assist us in finding it after 5pm.

Secondly – the bindery staff will post to our lib-weekend e-mail any collections etc. that we should be aware of –  Moira has asked that future queries like this concerning binding be sent to lib-bindery@ncl.ac.uk for a more efficient response in case she is not available.

D A Morrow,

New electronic system for bindery requests

Dear all
I am informing staff of the new electronic system for bindery requests.
In a similar fashion to the store request system if an item that is in the bindery is requested the customer will be directed to a form to fill in.There will also be a request option which appears next to an item in bindery even if the customer is not logged on.
By clicking on request they will be taken to a form (very like the store form) which can be filled in and sent to periodicals (who will deal with the request and inform the customer of progress with their request).
The binding form is now also listed under lending services on the home page of the catalogue.
The forms can be accessed by the link:
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/library/services/lending/bindery/

The only difference to Reader Services staff is that they will no longer need to fill in the manual form (orange for journals and grey for books). The customer will be able to fill in the form themselves and forward it to periodicals.
Regarding collection the customer will receive an email from periodicals when their item is ready to collect and present their smartcard at the service desk where they can receive their item for consultation.

If you experience any problems using this new service please let us know in periodicals as there will no doubt some things which may need tweaking

Kind regards

Sara
