Being Anti-Racist
We recognise that anti-racism is essential in order to understand and then dismantle racism in society. As educators, we understand anti-racism as both a scholarly and activist endeavour. We teach about anti-racism and we research anti-racism for real-world impact as we work towards changing professional policies and practices.

Reports
Peter and Heather – along with Amar and Renzo – collaborated with the North East Anti-Racism Coalition to conduct a survey and collect evidence from organisations about the nature and extent of racism in the North East of England. This report was launched on 23rd September 2026 in Middlesbrough Town Hall.
Peter also served on the North East Chamber of Commerce Commission on Race, Ethnicity and Discrimination which produced this report about how to promote anti-racism in businesses in the North East of England.
Alongside this report, four short briefings were produced focused on specific aspects of business where anti-racism could be promoted:
- A guide to retention, progression, and promotion to promote anti-racism in North East businesses.
- A guide to recruitment practices to promote anti-racism in North East businesses.
- A guide to business strategy and leadership to promote anti-racism in North East businesses.
- A guide to workplace education and training to promote anti-racism in North East businesses.
