Train Walk Train : Sunday Stroll

350932

Stressed out about you dissertation? Want to get out of the city? Need some fresh air? Want to find out a bit about local history?

Train Walk Train: A train ride up the river Tyne, a gentle walk through farmland and woodland to Cherryburn National Trust property (Thomas Bewick’s home) http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cherryburn/  (approx 4 miles), then a stroll down river to Wylam train station and train down river back to Newcastle (approx 4 miles)*

Meet at Newcastle train station at 11:30 am, Sunday 8th March, return Newcastle approx 4:30 pm. You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear (waterproof coat and stout footwear are essential) and bring a packed lunch or money for refreshments.

This is an opportunity to explore the nearby countryside in the company of your peers and find out a bit more about the local heritage. It’s a great way to get to know people from different years and to talk through ideas as you walk and respond to what you see.

This is open to everyone so if you know some one who would like to come along and is not on the Art of Straying mailing list please let them know. It would be good for me to get an idea of numbers as I would like to forewarn the National Trust people or our visit there. Please email me to let me know if you will be joining in.
