Student requirements: This internship is open to all Newcastle University students, although would be most suited to students studying subjects such as Environmental science or engineering, Civil Engineering, Physical Geography, Chemistry, Biology.

Dates and times: This internship will run for 200 hours undertaken flexibly around your course. You will attend business premises as well as work remotely.

Role overview: We have code written in SQL that is archaic and no longer supports or has problems with communication with modern cashless systems. In addition we have ticketing opportunities from remote kiosks that is required for Theatre, additional services including lounge ticketing and our current fast track systems. In addition Website upgrade/development is required.
Essentially we require software upgrades to maintain our service, presence and growth and where necessary a re-write of our service provision that will take us through the next 10 years of development taking into account Windows base platforms are used. We have a technical specification drawn up to work from.
This is an opportunity to work in our business in the short term but also to grow a possible IT developer position part-time/full time over the longer term. Happy to discuss opportunities with the right person for our company and hope we are the right company for the person.

Dates and times: This internship is expected to be for a total of 400 hours, working approximately 35 hours per week between 1 July and 30 September 2024.
Bursary/wage: £13.76 per hour including holiday pay
Role overview: An intern will assist in collection and analysis of environmental samples from sites along the coast of northeast England. With supervision, the student intern will assist the research team collecting and analysing waste samples, and samples of beach materials adjacent to them.
