Dates and times: This internship will take place for 200 hours starting in November 2024. You will undertake on average 15-20 hours per week, with hours flexible around your course. The internship will take place both at business premises and remotely.

Role overview: We are looking for an intern to design, develop and publish a complete research project on the subject of ‘Global Customs Enforcement – Best Practices’. The project will look to investigate the global market for the best pro-active techniques undertaken that prevent illicit products (particularly illicit cigarettes and alcohol) from being smuggled and sold without the correct excise taxes being paid.

Role title, company name: Research Assistant in Vision Science and Behaviour, Newcastle University
Student requirements: This internship is open to all Newcastle University students.

Dates and times: This internship is expected to be for a total of 50 hours. You will work up to 12 hours per week between late October and December. Working days and times are flexible.

Role overview: The role is as research assistant on a time-limited project developing stimuli for a computer-based colour vision task. The task is designed to assess performance on everyday operational tasks requiring the use of colour vision that a police officer, for example, might undertake. Creating new images for the colour vision assessment task will be the main requirement of the role, and this will involve using off-the-shelf AI-based image generation software and Adobe Photoshop, as well as taking and then editing photographs of real-world scenes.
