Company Introduction:
PDL Solutions (Europe) Ltd is a world-leading Engineering Consultancy, and its Digital Team is a dynamic, fast-growing team of Software Consultants developing novel and technically
demanding software for safety critical Engineering applications across a broad range of clients. We are experts in creating effective solutions to complex challenges for the oil and gas, nuclear, renewable energy, automotive and defence market sectors.
Placement Details:
The placement will typically start with some C#, Python & Azure training before working on an R&D task and/or a live job. What the live job is depends on PDL’s client requirements at the time; the R&D task will involve helping to develop some PDL intellectual property. Priority will be given to students completing their third year in the summer of 2025; two 7/8-week slots are available over the summer.
The Candidate:
The candidate will have an interest in full stack development of enterprise software applications. A good software and mathematical background are important, and some prior experience of OOP would be useful but not essential. Placement students are expected to be able to think about a problem from first principles and to come up with ideas on how the problem might be solved. They should be able to learn quickly, to understand a client’s requirements, and to work in a methodical and logical manner.
Placement Benefits:
There will be plenty of scope to apply theories learned at university. Students will see, directly and indirectly, the wide variety of industries, customers and projects PDL is involved with/in. They will gain skills in software development as appropriate to their work. Where the summer placement progresses well, it is common for permanent positions to be offered to students about to begin their fourth year with starting dates the following summer.
Office Location:
