Internship title, company name: Analytical and Test Method Development Intern – AkzoNobel

Student requirements: This internship is open to undergraduate Newcastle University students, or those eligible to work fulltime over the summer vacation, who are studying a Chemical degree discipline.

Closing date: 17/03/2025

Dates and times: This internship will take place for 300 hours between June and September 2025 (the start date is flexible within this time range). You will undertake on average 37.5 hours per week during the summer vacation. The internship will take place at business premises.

Bursary/wage: £3,750 Bursary

Internship overview: The Test Methods Development group works in tandem with the Analytical team to provide new and innovative test methods to allow for coating testing, identification, and diagnostics. As an intern you will be collaborating closely with both these teams to help research and develop test methods for one of our ongoing projects to support R&D. The internship will also seek to develop you as an individual by involving you in analytical investigations. This should develop your laboratory skills to the standard expected of an industrial chemist and build on your team working skills in a friendly professional environment.

Role title: Full-Stack Web Development Intern, SoundConnect

Student requirements: This internship is open to all Newcastle University students.

Closing date: 17/03/2025

Dates and times: This internship will take place for 50 hours between April and June 2025. You will undertake on average 10 hours per week, with hours flexible around your course. The internship will take place remotely.

Bursary/wage: £625 Bursary

Role overview: This internship offers hands-on experience in developing, documenting, and analysing scalable web applications. You will develop Next.js for UI development and Node.js for backend API integration, utilising AWS services for deployment and optimisation. Key objectives of the internship include building and documenting API endpoints, analysing UI/UX, optimizing AWS asset delivery, and implementing authentication and profile management.

Role title, company name: Student Engagement Intern, Newcastle University

Student requirements: This internship is open to all Newcastle University students.

Closing date: 16/03/2025

Dates and times: This internship is expected to be up to 120 hours. You will work up to 20 hours per week between April and June 2025, commencing no sooner than 28 April 2025. Working days and times are flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Bursary/wage: £14.23 per hour including holiday pay

Role overview: As an intern you will be supporting students in their journey through the refurbished King’s Gate space during the first month. You will also be observing and documenting student interactions with the newly reopened student services hub to identify any challenges or areas for improvement in service delivery prior to the start of the academic year.
