Geek Talent is a data science company who build digital products to generate data-driven insight and innovation in education, skills, jobs and the wider economy. Geek Talent is based in modern, state of the art offices at the Software Centre in the heart of Sunderland city centre, and is co- located with other hi tech companies in a vibrant environment. The principal Geek Talent product is a recruitment centric platform that uses state of the art machine learning to identify connections between people, establish key skills and perform availability ranking. Geek Talent are also launching a Career Hacker product to empower students to make better education and employment decisions with real-time data on people, jobs and companies.
The Role
Geek Talent is keen to recruit a talented “Big Data” Java Engineer to help further scale and optimise their web and cloud based software systems.
You will be instrumental in driving the company forward and will be exposed to – and develop skills in – machine learning and natural language processing algorithm development. You will work closely with our existing team, turning research innovations into practical applications.
Any practical experience in any of the following would be a distinct advantage:
- Core Java development / J2EE / enterprise level and Cloud architectures
- Glassfish, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Cassandra
- SOLR, Elastic Search, Neo4j
- Web services, XML, API integration, REST, JSON
- Unix/Linux skills
- Large scale data wrangling experience with NoSQL and relational DBs
You will work with a talented, friendly team of software architects, web developers and machine learning experts and help the company launch a suite of innovative digital products.
