The Information Services team, based in Durham is critical to the effectiveness of the business; developing, implementing and supporting technologies to enable and support our operational activities, customer services, infrastructure security and regulatory commitments. You’ll join the Intelligence & Analytics Team and get involved in cutting edge project and business-as-usual work using data science and analytics to drive decision making, collaborating with major organisations in the water, IT and engineering sectors.

Very comfortable with numbers, you’ll be part of a team of motivated, competent undergraduate placement students with strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and a genuine desire to develop and learn, to play a key role in delivering projects across a number of our teams. You’ll need to be good at interacting with different people; be an effective communicator verbally and in writing; interested, flexible and open to making the most of new experiences; motivated to get involved, get things done, take on responsibility and make a contribution; willing to ask for help and advice when you need it and to get on with things when you don’t.

The Year in Industry (YINI) scheme have two 12-month Placement opportunities commencing Sept 2018 ideally suited to students studying Computer Science with an interest in programming, ideally with experience with PHP and JavaScript.

We are looking for highly motivated applicants to become members of our development team. The placement will involve the candidate in the development and maintenance of new and existing solutions. Through this they will become skilled in our development environment and involved in our product release cycle.

Ideal candidates are likely to have a background in computing, they will be scientifically minded and have a desire to increase their technical proficiency.

From a technical perspective, successful candidates will be given the opportunity to work with various web technologies such as PHP, JavaScript, Drupal, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and .Net languages. We also have our own development language.

As a member of the development team you will also have some responsibility in supporting our current customers and solving queries that they might have regarding our products.
