Dyer Engineering is a leading fabrication and precision engineering business who are seeking to recruit a graduate Digital Manufacturing Engineer to expand their existing team, to support and drive an exciting new direction the business is taking.

Dyer Engineering has huge diversity in both its production capability and the markets in which it operates. Operating across two sites, with first class manufacturing facilities, including: –

  • 3D Cad Modeling Systems – Autodesk Inventor
  • 4-axis laser cutting, plasma and EDM
  • Large and small-scale CNC multi-axis horizontal & vertical machining and turning
  • Extensive fabrication facilities coupled with process and operator welding approvals

    We constantly strive to remain at the cutting edge when it comes to implementing innovation and technology and we are now embracing the opportunities being presented by Industry 4.0 and implementation of the ‘IoT’, ‘Big Data’, etc . We are currently developing a Digital Strategy to revolutionise our business operations and support our aim to become Best-in-Class.

    To support our vision, we require a Digital Manufacturing Engineer who will offer us skills in computing and programming which we can blend into our existing, in-house engineering and manufacturing skills. This innovative approach will require somebody who is prepared to take onboard engineering and manufacturing concepts and processes outside of their comfort zone and develop new innovative approaches to solving problems

    Ideally, we are seeking an individual with a degree and background in a computer science/IT related subject however we would consider applications from candidates with more traditional engineering degrees but can offer a good standard of computer programming and IT skills.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Operations Manager in the development and implementation of our Digital Strategy
  • Supporting our internal IT systems and networks
  • Managing, supporting and training staff in the roll out of business system enhancements
  • Developing a Company Intranet for data sharing / SharePoint / Office365 / Enterprise Social Platform
  • Improving the provision of data analysis and business metrics from our ERP system
  • Researching modern technologies and ideas to introduce to the business

    Candidates must be qualified to Degree level. This role will suit a talented engineer who is looking to begin their career in a varied, challenging and rewarding organisation. In addition, the company has a very proactive approach towards training and places a great deal of emphasis on staff development.

  • Salary – £25K per annum starting salary, with good opportunity for progression
  • Working hours – 7.30 am to 4.30 pm (Mon-Thu) and 7.30 am to 12.30 pm on Fridays. (39 hours per week)
  • Holidays – 24 days plus public holidays.
  • Pension – 3% matching contribution

Your role would be to form part of a highly-skilled development team (currently 2 senior developers), involved in new product development as well as implementing new features and maintaining existing code, that will enable the business to grow at an unparalleled rate maintaining its lead in the industry. We need you to:

  • have an interest in web technologies
  • have an understanding of OOP principles and common software design patterns
  • have a basic understanding of SQL and PHP
  • have an understanding of software testing and TDD
  • have an understanding version control, ideally with Git
  • work with the existing development team and colleagues throughout the business to resolve support tickets and develop new functionality
  • be confident and self-motivated, willing to suggest new methods, tools or ideas where appropriate

Other beneficial skills are:

  • a working knowledge of Linux command line interface
  • an understanding of website security issues
  • an understanding of front-end development
  • a familiarity with Javascript and the jQuery library
  • a familiarity with CSS/SASS
